So it has finally gotten to that point in my exchange where it is 6 months. It does not feel like that at all. Sure I still remember the day i got here and exactly what happened, but its so strange to think it was so long ago (well it feels long ago) everyone says omg! your gone for a year.. i could never do that! but in reality well my reality it doesnt feel that long at all. i mean yea if your stuck being miserable missing things at home the year will go by slow but if your haivng the time of your life and living in the moment, time just goes by and by.
well bak to new years, because it has really been that long since i last updated... my bad im sorry..
but we went to alinde and chris the friends from england. i hung out with their son christopher.. we all had a nice dinner then me and him went to watch the fireworks at festningen.. the fortress. soooo many people, i didnt realize there were that many people in this town. everyone was saying gott nyt ar.. happy new year in swedish. and setting off fireworks on the beach.. what a great time. then we came back and tosted, talking about resolutions and what we hope to see in the new year. who knows what it will hold! :)
the first week back to school.. was a bit strange to be back but i was grateful because i didnt see many of my friends over break due to the fact that they allll travel when the weather gets cold.. thankfuly we at least have snow.. it has stayed for about a month now..yayyyy :)
the week after school started my cousins came.. erin and beth from my dad's side. i have to admit it was exhausting to have my cousins here ( i loved having them dont get me wrong) it is just really hard trying to play the role of tour guide... so they came to my school and experience it the swedish way.. haha they think we eat weird at schooll ( apparently, proper.. the european way) and were suprised on the ways of dress... they also came to my massage class. and beth and i got to enjoy that while erin took some pictures... btw i will get some pictures up later... they also took part in the swedish way of bathing!! the naked bath house called kallbadhuset.. i tihnk they are scared for life but they went into and out of the ice hole bak into the sauna 5 times ( my requirements :) the next day we went to gothenborg and toured around the city there.. and stopped at the hard rock cafe for lunch. then we went to the walmart on steriods called gekos.. sucha huge store.. soooo much shopping in one day!!! then we left for copenhagen on that friday.. we took the train and it was about 3 hours or so to get to denmark we actually got off at the airport.. not the place we wanted to be buttt we got an 8 dollar starbucks coffee sooooo worth the money considering they have no startbucks in sweden.. sad yes i know.. but we got to the main station and were trying to find our hotell... we actually got put into the wrong direction.. we ended up in the ghetto of copenhagen.. where sex toys and porn were displayed frequently.. i think all three of us were scarred. but we got to the hotel and out of the ghetto, thankfully :)
so we walked over allll of copenhagen after we put our things off at the hotel. we went to the queens palace.. the royal appartments (went on a self tour) we found the area copenhagen is famous for.. the little mirmade statue and a place called nyhaven... its like a little dock where the arciture of the houses and restaurants is well known. i wish it would have been sunnier but its sooo much better than wind and rain.. no complaints. we also saw the black diamond which is the royal library of denmark. and it was sooo cool we went at night so the lights were on it.. amaazing! i will add pics from everything later...
after we got bak from copenhagen we relaxed and watched the proposal.. top work movie.. soooo funny! love itunes.. who knew you could rent movies from there?? on sunday we went into town to the castle and i gave thema tour.. we took a fika at my favorite cafe. then went to a floor ball match. i think they enjoied there trip so all ended well :)
happenings at school:
most of my classes have ended so i have a new schedule for this new semester. :) which is nice.. i dont have to wake up too early and end too late. besides that most of my classes are going quite well. massage.. test coming up soon.. history, finishing up the interviews.. yet i really have no clue how it should be done.. weird translations ugh :(
this past week mats and i went to allane... for some cross country skiing! it was fun but i have never tried it before so it went pretty slow haha. and i fell, of course. it was snowing while we were skiing so it was really pretty! and we just had to wear light jakets cuz it was so warm.. perfekt! :)
I have met with my third host family.. i absolutely love them!!! i have a sister natalie who is 13 and loves horses.. she has two at a stable in town.. nils who is 7.. and monica and stephan. they are incredibly sweet! natalie knows english the best but by the time i move there i will be fluent.. im about half way now! :) i will have the whole upstairs of the house to myself... they are rebuilding the attic so there will be a little living room bedroom bathroom and possibly kitchen.. they want it to be flat other exchange students or students can rent out :) its a great idea! and in march they invited me to go on a ski trip with them up in dalana.. ahhh!!! they have a little cabin there it would be crowded but sooo much fun. i cant wait :)
i went and celebrated my friend hanna n's birthday with her on thursday. i gave them some starbucks coffee and skittles and a bracelet. :) who wouldnt love starbucks! especially swedes cuz they are coffee fiends! :) so it was fun we went for a long walk had dinner did homework and watched glee :) such a great show i cant believe ppl in the u.s. dont like it!
another great and amazing thing that has happened is that me and tyler got accepted to csu in fort collins co!!! :D i couldnt believe it!! so exciting! so i will be majoring in communications and starting in the fall. im hoping to come back to the states in early july to work a little bit.. but who knows.
what i have been up to this weekend...
friday i went and met friend for a fika.. beata and some of her friends and i got a birthday present for my friend olivia. (her party on sunday) then after fika i went to meet mats and eva at their friends new flat in town.. kai and eva.. they had a dinner party to celebrate the new flat. it was soooo nice :) today i have been packing then mats and evas parents came over for a nice lunch. tonight we are going to camillas house to have a nice dinner.
tomorrow ill make some american pancakes.. wish me luck on making those haha ;)
eva and mats are going to ride jova then looking at a horse a couple hours away for eva.
at 15 00 or so ill go to olivias party with fanny and be there for awhile then its taking anton to the station for him to go back to the army then me off to my new family.
my thoughts on moving:
i wouldnt change this trip even for a second. i have the opportunity of a life time and i consider myself to be very very blessed.
getting mats and eva as my host parents is something that has made my trip the way it is. i dont think it wouldve ever been the same without them. they have taught me so much and it has been the best for me growing as a person and enjoying life with them. of course i am terribly sad to be leaving them. but its not like im leaving them compeletly. i come over 2 or 3 times a week to ride camilas horse. and im so incredibly excited to move to the sundquist house (btw if anyone is sending anything to me, mail my mom to get the new address) ill have a big sister, which i have always wanted! even though it is further out of town it is only for 5 or 6 weeks so its not even that long. i will enjoy it while i can!! :)
everything is packed and its weird to see my room so bare! my suitcases are so full and heavy i think i need to start thinking of what i will have my next visitors send back!.. so much crap!
well i should finish up cleaning but keep up with emails everyone! ill be putting up pics of the new fam and house next week sometime.. along with a update of course!
